We did that to Ourselves…

You know that feeling you get when you knock a cup over?

That feeling of, “man this really sucks, but I kind of did it to myself,” as we watch the liquid spread across the table, then onto the floor, as we now rush around to mop it up. Usually spreading it around making a bigger mess before it starts to actually clean up into something resembling a presentable mess.

That’s actually a feeling (see sensation) that you may or may not get often in your Christian walk.

Most of the time, when we get this feeling we have a tendency to try to say that it’s the devil’s fault, that “the devil is trying me (you),” or “the devil is being busy.” However, that’s not quite true. Is it?

You see we give the devil too much praise and profit. Attributing things to him that he actually had no hand in, refusing to actually see the situation for what it is. The truth of the matter is…we are in our current storm because of us.

Not everything that happens to us is the devils doing. Sometimes we put ourselves in predicaments that we have no reason being in. We knock our own cups over so to speak.

So what now?

Now that we find ourselves in a storm of our own making, we end up crying out to God asking Him why he brought this storm to our lives and what we did to deserve this. When, again. We made this mess.

God gives us FREE WILL.

With it we usually freely make mistakes and then blame them on other people. Not realizing that sometimes we are the root of our own problems.

For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. (Galatians 5:17)

The flesh is a finicky thing and will get us in trouble every time, and that is something we have to ask God to take care of so that we don’t make a mess of things and cause issues in our lives that don’t have to be there.

That is not to say that God does not give us test and trials, because He does. He also knows all we are going to go through and do before it even happens (He is an AMAZING God). However, it still stands that some of the things we go through are because of us.

Thank God for Grace and Mercy!

Remember that old song? “Your grace and mercy, brought me through?” Even though we bring things on ourselves sometimes, like a loving, doting parent God doesn’t leave us. He will chastise us, yes. He will tell us, “I told you…” but He will NEVER leave or forsake us.c1f06e5725cea2f0c6482a00f9edf38d

EVER – (see he even told us)

No matter what kind of mess we make. No matter how dirty we are, how unlovable we may seem. No matter how we have backslide, what music we are listening to, what we are struggling with, what our finances look like, or what our family situation is.

HE LOVES US.

ALWAYS –

FOREVER –

NO MATTER WHAT –

Then to top it all off when all is said and done He will pick us up, wipe us off, and set us on our feet again. Flesh or no flesh, mess or no mess. All because we are his children and he loves us.

Just remember sometimes the messes are of our own doing, but God will come into the kitchen and help us clean it up, because that’s the kind of Daddy He is.
